As a member of the Mechanic department, you are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing boats of all kinds. Service and repair electrical and mechanical equipment on marine vessels. The role is to repair and maintain marine engines, restore motorized and electrical equipment on boat engines, winterize boats, determine problems with a vessel, and conduct general routine maintenance of vessels. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with engines and equipment.
  • Repair and maintenance of shipboard systems.
  • Document repairs, modifications and inspections.
  • Repair and maintain yard equipment.

$18-$28/hr DOE

As a member of our Electronics Department, you are responsible for installing, adjusting, and maintaining electronics communication equipment, including sound, sonar, security, navigation, and surveillance systems on boats of all kinds.
 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with electrical equipment.
  • Repair and maintenance of shipboard systems.
  • Document repairs, modifications and inspections.
  • Repair and maintain yard equipment.

$20 – $30/hr DOE

As a member of our Fiberglass department, you must have a strong knowledge of mold making, lamination, lay‐up, one‐ off parts manufacturing and general fiberglass repairs. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, repairing fiberglass cosmetic blemishes and major damages. In addition, taking responsibility, maintaining flexibility and safely performing multiple duties and tasks under stressful, potentially hazardous and fast‐paced conditions while contributing to the success of the organization as a high‐performing team member are all requirements to satisfactory meet your job expectations.
 
Job Responsibilities:   
  • Identify defects such as: cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws. 
  • Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management 
  • Grind out defective areas, smooth rough edges/areas by using appropriate power or hand‐tools. 
  • Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair. 
  • Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly. 
  • Mix Gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors. 
  • Buff and polish repaired surfaces.
$18 – $26/hr DOE

The fuel dock attendant is responsible for the safe, efficient and environmentally sound operation of the marina’s marine fueling station.  This includes monitoring and dispensing of fueling products, customer service, cleaning and minor maintenance of equipment and facilities and assisting with the coordination of boating related activities that occur at the marine fueling facility.  In addition, the fuel dock attendant will assist the boatyard with cleaning of docks, grounds, buildings and dockside customer service.

$15/hr

Service writers ensure that a customer’s needs are being fulfilled. Service writers possess product knowledge and bring efficiency to the relationship between a customer and the business. Working as a liaison for the business, an effective service writer brings competence to a customer’s experience by coordinating the transaction.
 

Job duties for a service writer revolve around the needs of the customer. They develop relationships with customers through successful management of product or service delivery. Their duties can include tracking repairs and their causes, scheduling technicians and processing warranties. Customer profile information is stored in a computer system, which the service writer is responsible for maintaining.

Additional duties of a service writer involve developing cost estimates. When a customer requests a repair, the service writer works with the appropriate department(s) to determine how much time should be allocated to make the repair and schedule the appropriate technician for the job based on the customer and their repair needs. This information is conveyed to both the customer and the employer of the service writer in a timely fashion.
